MCF Signs Letter Requesting Full Funding for 2020 Census

The Minnesota Council on Foundations and the Minnesota Census Mobilization Partnership have joined colleagues from across the county in signing onto a letter organized by The Census Project to encourage Congressional leaders to provide full year FY2020 funding for the 2020 Census as soon as possible. This is important to protect the Census from the risk of a funding issue if there is a government shutdown.

The letter expresses concern that without sufficient, on-time resources, the Census Bureau cannot carry out preparations and operations needed for a successful census. The letter requests that if Congress is unable to agree on a full-year budget and needs to pass a third continuing resolution (CR), that the CR contains a direct full-year appropriation for the census of no less than $6.7 billion.
