Health Funders Network Meeting - Social Determinants of Minnesota: Causes, Costs, and the Case for a (More) Coherent Approach

Join MCF, your philanthropy peers, and Heather R. Britt, MPH, PhD, Executive Director, Wilder Research, as we gather to discuss Minnesota’s landscape for health funders.

This session will start with a brief exploration of frameworks around social determinants of health. We’ll review the experience of Minnesotans and the impacts of social determinants using local and regional data and case studies. Finally, we’ll explore and discuss current approaches to addressing social drivers of health and consider opportunities for a more integrated and cohesive approach across our state.

Heather Britt joined Wilder Research in June of 2022 as its new Executive Director. Prior to Wilder Research, Heather spent seventeen years in the healthcare sector, first as a research leader at Allina Health, then as a researcher at the Minnesota Hospital Association, and finally as a senior leader of data and analytics at BlueCross and BlueShield of Minnesota. Heather also spent time at the Minnesota Department of Education and the Urban Coalition. Her graduate training is in public health, including a master’s in health behavior from the University of North Carolina and a doctorate in epidemiology from the University of Minnesota; her bachelor of science is from Cornell University. 

The network is hosted by MCF and open to any MCF member or non-member currently funding in health-related focus areas as well as those considering future funding in this area.
