May enjoys bringing people together to build collective power and working towards systemic change. Outside of work, she is passionate about animal welfare and volunteers with a local small animal rescue organization. In her free time, May enjoys cycling and reading.

May’s work has been focused on advancing equity, and her experiences have been anchored in education, community engagement, and policy development. Her career began in working with youth of color on storytelling projects in refugee and immigrant communities. May continued to support students from diverse and first generation backgrounds at the college level through her roles as a researcher and advisor. Prior to MCF, May directed statewide advocacy efforts and policy initiatives focused on closing the opportunity gap in Minnesota. This included issue-based community organizing efforts to advance solutions on issues prioritized by historically underrepresented college students and institutionalizing basic needs in higher education. Most recently, May led MCF's work in community-based redistricting and served as the Our Maps MN campaign manager.
