A Message From MCF President Susie Brown

Dear MCF community members,

I wish you a very happy new year! I’m writing today to share the news of my upcoming departure from the Minnesota Council on Foundations.

Since joining MCF as its president in April 2019, I have aimed to deliver high member value, thoughtful strategy, and meaningful impact. MCF’s amazing team and incredible, highly-engaged members, have driven our success. When I started, I never could have imagined that the world would take us through such complex and turbulent times, demanding clarity about what we stand for and the imagination to do things differently. It has truly been a challenging and deeply satisfying role.

It’s a good time to make space for new leadership. MCF is strong—both the community of members and the organization itself. With a terrific board and staff, solid finances, active members and clear strategic direction, the future is bright! I look forward to supporting, and admiring, the next leader as they bring new energy and ideas to this important work.

On February 27 I will begin my new role at the Saint Paul & Minnesota Foundation as managing director of client foundations, working with the F. R. Bigelow and Mardag Foundations. Please watch MCF Notes, Giving Memo, and the MCF website for news about interim leadership and the search process for MCF’s next president. I thank you, the MCF community, for the privilege of being your partner in our vibrant philanthropic community.

With gratitude,

Susie Brown
