Theresa Seys is Vice President, Lead Chief Counsel and Chief Global Conflicts Officer for Ameriprise Financial and provides counsel regarding Regulation Best Interest, the Advisers Act fiduciary standard, state fiduciary and best interest standards, ERISA and FINRA regulations. She joined Ameriprise in 2003 and has over 20 years of experience as counsel for large global financial services companies. She was previously appointed by the Secretary of Labor to serve on the ERISA Advisory Council to the Department of Labor. Members of the ERISA Advisory Council are nationally recognized experts who focus on issues important to Americans regarding retirement and health care security. She is a graduate of Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota and received her law degree from the University of Minnesota Law School.
