Serve on the MCF Board

Together, We Are MCF

The Minnesota Council on Foundations (MCF) is an association of grant makers working to advance prosperity and equity through connecting, mobilizing and strengthening the field of philanthropy in Minnesota.

Over 150 members represent grantmaking throughout the state, providing millions of dollars and non-financial resources to nonprofits annually. Members include family and private independent foundations, community and other public foundations, and corporate foundations and giving programs.

Lead With Us

MCF welcomes philanthropy professionals who bring diverse experience and perspectives and have a strong pulse to the needs of the communities they serve. MCF’s commitment to inclusive governance practices supports all board members as they connect, strengthen and mobilize their voice.

Considerations

MCF seeks candidates who are committed to collectively advancing prosperity and equity by upholding and bringing values of diversity, equity and inclusion forward as catalysts within their field. The MCF Governance Committee will develop a slate of candidates to be approved by the membership in December.

In developing the slate, they will consider a variety of factors including each candidate’s background and experience in the following areas:

  • Active engagement in MCF activities
  • Knowledge of and commitment to MCF’s Principles for Philanthropy
  • A commitment to MCF’s values of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Anti-Racism
  • Demonstrated integrity, objectivity and discipline

In order to bring diverse voices to the table, MCF asks that only one person from any member organization be representated at a time during their board tenure. If someone from your member organization is already on the MCF board of directors, please refrain from applying at this time.

Recruitment Priorities

All MCF members are welcome to apply. MCF is committed to building a diverse Board comprising individuals from different backgrounds and with a range of experiences and viewpoints. MCF considers its priority elements of diversity when reviewing applicants, which include: race/ethnicity; gender; sexual orientation; ability; and geography. • People who identify as Transgender, Gender Non-Conforming, and/or Non-binary
