How Is This Role Important To Our Work?
This position manages grantmaking and operations functions for the Blue Cross Foundation. Grants management responsibilities include oversight, implementation, and optimization of all grantmaking processes, grants management software system administration and subject matter expertise, and collaboration with grants management software vendor management. Operations responsibilities include acting as liaison with finance, tax, procurement, and legal to create, implement, and monitor contracts, grants, and financial and tax reporting and maintaining policies and procedures.
A Day in the Life:
Grants Management Accountabilities (70%)
- Implement and manage technology platforms to support grantmaking programs, which includes coordinating with internal teams and external vendors.
- Document processes and procedures to ensure consistency and compliance and collaborate to meet reporting requirements for internal and external audiences.
- Conduct administrative functions of grants process, including grant entry, due diligence, grant quality assurance, and successful grant processing.
- Serve as the primary subject matter expert for grants administration processes, procedures, standards, data integrity, and systems usage.
- Act as Foundation liaison to and project manager of grants management software vendor. Collaborate with corporate systems administrator and vendor manager.
- Manage the Foundation’s grants management database including upgrades, staff training, troubleshooting, and integrity and accuracy of the system.
- Collaborate with Foundation team to identify and prioritize business requirements and assure vendor responsiveness and quality.
- Arrange and troubleshoot grant review logistics and technology for in-person and virtual review processes.
- Manage the technical and logistical aspects of the Foundation’s request for proposals processes, including application development, timeline development, release of requests for proposals, applicant information sessions, application review process and data collection.
- Serves as central communication lead for Foundation in collaborative relationships with software vendor, corporate IT (Information Technology), and other system users.
- Create custom data reports in response to time sensitive requests.
Operational Accountabilities (30%)
- Serve as the liaison with and manage work processes related to Blue Cross procurement, legal and finance areas and assure compliance with foundation, company, legal, IRS and regulatory policies, laws, and reporting, many of which are unique to private foundations.
- Track and report foundation spending.
- Manage contracting and invoice processes.
- Lead process optimization projects which include analyzing, redesign, and implementation
- Document and maintain Foundation policies and procedures.
Nice to Have:
- Bachelor's degree.
Required Skills & Experiences:
- 7+ years of related professional experience. All relevant experience including work, education, transferable skills, and military experience will be considered.
- 3+ years of experience with grantmaking data management software and database queries.
- Knowledge of grantmaking processes.
- Demonstrated experience working independently, proactively identifying, or initiating ways to enhance a process, procedure, or outcome.
- Experience leading teams to identify business requirements, build process flows, and assure systems are responsive to business needs.
- Strong project management skills including the ability to manage timelines, resources, and risks effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively and proactively interact, communicate, and collaborate on cross-functional teams and with people from cultural backgrounds other than own.
