MCF Member Briefing: Democracy and Bridging

All MCF members are invited to join the Rural and Urban Bridging for Impact network for a special briefing on Democracy and Bridging. Throughout American history and as recently as the early 1990s, the major political parties included both rural and urban constituencies, but since then the nation has become deeply divided geographically. The places where we live are increasingly crowded with people who live, think, and vote like we do.

We will be joined by four guests who share a commitment to democracy, rural communities and bridging across difference. 

• Huda Ahmed, Upstream Co-Lead and Andy Goldman-Gray, Initiative Director at Upstream Minnesota, a project that channels a shared love of Minnesota's natural places into greater trust, connection and stewardship. 
• Chai Lee, Program Director, Boards and Commissions Leadership Institute, Nexus Community Partners leads a program that equips BIPOC and other shut-out community members to serve on city, county, metro, and state boards and commissions.
• Ben Schierer, Director of Civic Partnerships at West Central Initiative supports the Rural Democracy leadership training program for people interested in growing and strengthening their local communities through elected office and other forms of public leadership.
