Disaster Philanthropy Working Group - Summer Meeting

Join the Summer Meeting of the Disaster Philanthropy Working Group!

At this meeting, we will discuss possible needs and plans for 2026 and 2027. For example, Minnesota has been deeply impacted by a human-made disaster tied to immigration policy. It is not only impacting us economically, but in terms of social trust and faith in institutions. It is especially challenging in metro and rural communities that are highly diverse culturally, and the trauma our children are experiencing is heartbreaking.

We will share ideas and possible plans for how we can understand and respond to the on-going disaster impacting our state. In developing these plans, we will engage with the Hummingly Foundation, which provides resources and workshops that recognize disaster recovery isn't only about rebuilding homes, but also about rebuilding lives.

Participants in the Philanthropic Preparedness, Resiliency and Emergency Partnership (PPREP) network will already be familiar with Hummingly’s work and are strongly encouraged to participate in this discussion.

Disaster Philanthropy Working Group meetings and events are open to any MCF member who is interested in funding within the disaster response, recovery and resilience focus area. Prior participation in the Working Group is not required. For additional information, please reach out to Dave Anderson, [email protected]
