About Dave:

Dave enjoys reading (especially science fiction, historical thrillers, and nonfiction), movies (from silent classics to modern blockbusters), biking, camping, and walks at night listening to audiobooks and podcasts. Dave grew up mostly in Greater Minnesota and has lived in the Twin Cities ever since. He has worked for several statewide nonprofit organizations that help him to remain connected to both. Dave currently lives in Minneapolis with his partner Amanda, daughter Zara, and their Siberian forest cat Koshka (Russian for cat).

Dave has worked in the nonprofit sector for 30 years. He directed several state and national organizations, including the National Manufactured Home Owners Association (NMHOA), All Parks Alliance for Change (APAC), Minnesota Public Interest Research Group (MPIRG), Minnesota State University Student Association (now Students United), and Minnesota Senior Federation.  For a few of these organizations, he led the government relations and public policy work, on both the regulatory and legislative sides. He serves on the board for the Oak Hill Montessori Charter School and as a grant reviewer for Minnesota Housing’s Manufactured Home Community Redevelopment Program.

Dave has a Master of Public Affairs from the University of Minnesota’s Humphrey School of Public Affairs, a Doctor of Education in Leadership from the University of St. Thomas, and was selected as a Bush Fellow in 2020. His dissertation research focused on Pedagogy of Community Organizing: Lessons Learned from and with Formal Educators, Professional Trainers, and Community Organizers
