Resources for Action

Resources for Legislative Action

Grantmakers are a valuable resource for elected officials. You do research and publish reports they can use to help shape policies. You gain a perspective on issues and of the community through your relationships with grantees. You are also constituents whose ideas matter, and you are best at explaining what it takes to do your work as a grantmaker.

Helping You Communicate Effectively

MCF offers programs to help you learn about how public policy affects your grantmaking and to develop skills for communicating with elected officials in the most strategic and effective ways possible. We also provide you with online tools so you can make the case for advocacy and public policy investments through your grantmakig and effectively communicate with lawmakers.  Questions about how to effectively engage in public policy advocacy?  Check out the PowerPoint below and, by all means, contact us.

Working with Partners

MCF is your partner in advocacy and public policy. We work through coalitions, partnerships and direct lobbying to represent the interests of Minnesota grantmakers. We need you in order to do our job. Your participation in public policy programs, MCF issue-based networks and MCF's Government Relations and Public Policy Committee are essential. We also work with other partners who help use advance the consideration of issues that are part of MCF's Public Policy Compendium.

Know Who Represents You

The most important thing you can do to help us effectively represent Minnesota grantmakers is know who represents you. Once you know who represents you in Congress and the State Legislature in Saint Paul enter that information into your MCF member profile

Are you interested in advocacy and public policy? Want to do more? Update your Congressional and legislative district contact information and interest fields on your MCF member page.
