MCF Board Nominations

 

Minnesota Council on Foundations (MCF) is pleased to announce the Call for Nominations for the 2019 Board of Directors. 

The Call for Nominations is now open and we are seeking candidates for two open positions for terms beginning in January 2019. Please consider nominating someone you think would be a great addition to the MCF board.  You can also nominate yourself!

Nominations are due by August 31, 2018

Requirements

MCF recognizes that the best way to move forward as a vibrant philanthropic community is to ensure that our board members share our commitment for advancing prosperity and equity.

We are committed to a board that is representative of all types of philanthropy--family, independent, community/public and corporate foundations.

Nominees must be a trustee, staff member, or chair or member of an official committee associated with an MCF member organization.

The term is three years.  Board members may serve for up to two, consecutive three-year terms. Terms begin in January.

Current Recruitment Priorities

To achieve the representation and skill balance we need to be effective, we are particularly interested in nominees who have the following skills or attributes:

Skills

  • Nonprofit finance experience or expertise
  • Audit experience or expertise

Characteristics

  • Affiliation with a private, family foundation
  • Candidates who live or have close working connections with Greater Minnesota communities
  • Trustees/directors
  • Male candidates

Nomination and Selection Process

Nominations should be presented using the Call for Nominations form.

You may nominate one or more people. As a courtesy, we suggest you inform those you are nominating that you are making a submission on their behalf.

If you are nominating someone who you nominated previously, we ask that you submit a new nomination form. We also welcome self nominations. 

Nominations will be considered by the MCF board’s governance committee and two candidates recommended to the MCF Board for approval.

Nominator’s Statement

Please provide a narrative statement that addresses the following:

  1. Why would this candidate be an excellent addition to the MCF Board of Directors?
  2. Please describe your nominee’s skills and experience with nonprofit finance and audit procedures.
  3. Describe the nominee’s volunteer service with MCF (for example are they a committee member or have they served on any MCF program etc.).
  4. Please provide any additional information that is useful to the Governance Committee deliberations.
