Willmar Area Community Foundation Awards Scholarships to 21 Local Students

The Willmar Area Community Foundation (WACF), in conjunction with CommunityGiving, is pleased to announce that 21 students from Willmar and the surrounding areas received $37,975 in academic scholarships for the 2019-2020 school year.
 
CommunityGiving administers 135 separate scholarship funds, several of which serve Willmar and the surrounding area schools.  These scholarships were established by individuals, families and businesses to support area students in their educational pursuits.

"As our students being a new school year, we wish the young people of our communities the best and thank our donors who, by establishing scholarship funds, are saying to these students 'We support you. We want you to succeed." stated Sara Carlson, Executive Director of WACF.
 
Scholarship recipients for the 2019-2020 school year are (sorted by school district):

  • Jayden Friauf of ACGC received $1,000 from the Marv Otto Scholarship Fund.
  • Courtney Hartmann of ACGC received $1,000 from the Marv Otto Scholarship Fund.
  • Ryan Peterson of ACGC received $1,000 from the Harold E. Bjur Scholarship Fund.
  • Elizabeth Sherwood of ACGC received $1,000 from the Harold E. Bjur Scholarship Fund.
  • Morgan Tritabaugh of ACGC received $1,000 from the Harold E. Bjur Scholarship Fund.
  • Jayden Anderson of ACGC received $1,000 from the Adams Family Scholarship Fund.
  • Madisyn Randt of ACGC received $1,000 from the Adams Family Scholarship Fund.
  • Jenna Zaeska of ACGC received $1,000 from the Adams Family Scholarship Fund .
  • Shanna Kinny of Litchfield received $425 from the Virginia Grussendorf Memorial Scholarship Fund
  • Lindsey Barton of MACCRAY received $1,000 from the Josh Palke Scholarship Fund.
  • Kelby Jaenisch of MACCRAY received $1,000 from the Josh Palke Scholarship Fund.
  • Andrew Miller of MACCRAY received $1,000 from the Josh Palke Scholarship Fund.
  • Isabelle Plagge of MACCRAY received $1,000 from the Josh Palke Scholarship Fund.
  • Kyle Stranberg of MACCRAY received $2,000 from the Josh Palke Scholarship Fund.
  • Waverley Rogers of NL-S received $1,000 from the Marv Otto Scholarship Fund.
  • Samantha Johnson of NL-S received $500 from the New London Spicer Alumni Scholarship.
  • Hannah Johnson of Willmar received $10,000 from the Willmar Civic Scholarship Association Dorothy Brown Scholars Fund.
  • Paw Si Blut of Willmar received $10,000 from the Willmar Civic Scholarship Association Dorothy Brown Scholars Fund.
  • Jeanette Elizondo of Willmar received $1,000 from the Dr. Austin and Muriel McCarthy Family Scholarship Fund.
  • Zachary Courtney of Willmar received $500 from the Dorothy Timm Meili Scholarship Fund.
  • Kathryn Gubrud of Willmar received $500 from the Dorothy Timm Meili Scholarship Fund.
