The Sheltering Arms Foundation announces its support to 40 nonprofit organizations that are working to deliver high-quality programming to our state's most vulnerable children.

"This year Sheltering Arms is seeing a number of Minnesota's nonprofits creating new programs based in the culture of the children and families served, or incorporating cultural relevancy into their existing programs," said Denise Mayotte, executive director.

"We are excited to support this development, as we think it is a key strategy for closing the opportunity gap facing so many of Minnesota's children. Research shows that making programs culturally relevant to the people being served is an essential component for protecting children's feeling of self-worth and is important to helping children develop to their full potential."
