Sauer Family Foundation Welcomes New Program Officer

Monday, January 31, 2022

Sauer Family Foundation welcomes Sheri Hixon as a Program Officer focusing on Building Strong Family Relationships: prevention and intervention in child welfare. Sheri brings decades of serving individuals and communities through a BIPOC lens. She is energized as she joins Sauer Family Foundation in its focus to uplift and support folks facing challenges surrounding building strong family relationships and engaging impactful and lasting systemic change.

This new role supports the increase in foundation assets and accelerated grantmaking announced in June 2021. Grantmaking has increased from annual awards of $741,254 in 2018 to over $5 Million in 2021, the first year of expansion. A full list of 2021 grantees is posted on the Foundation website.

Currently celebrating its 25th Anniversary year, The Sauer Family Foundation is a private foundation that serves children in Minnesota who are at-risk or experiencing abuse or neglect, exposed to toxic stress or trauma or have challenges developing reading, writing or math skills. The foundation also makes grants to diversify the workforce, so children see themselves reflected in the adults employed in education, social work and children’s mental health. This includes support to schools and early childhood settings, non-profit and research organizations, government agencies, collaboratives and networks.
