The Saint Paul & Minnesota Foundation Announces New Board Members

The Saint Paul & Minnesota Foundation (the Foundation) today announced the election of Michael Echols, Chris Galvin, Alex West Steinman and Tarek Tomes to its board of directors.

“We are honored to welcome these exceptional new members to our board,” said Chair Jan Angell. “Their professional experience and dedication to the Foundation’s purpose of inspiring generosity, advocating for equity and investing in community-led solutions will further our ability to effectively support communities across Minnesota.”

Michael Echols is executive vice president, chief financial officer and chief administrative offer of Carousel Motor Group (CMG), an automotive dealership group in the Twin Cities owned by the Pohlad Family. He is responsible for CMG’s strategic management and administrative operations and oversees innovation, corporate development and mergers and acquisitions. Echols brings extensive experience in governance, private equity, corporate finance, public investing strategy and mergers and acquisitions to his board role. He is active in the Twin Cities community and serves on the boards of the Minnesota Twins Community Fund, the Shooting Star Foundation and the Adam Thielen Foundation.

Chris Galvin is president of the Andersen Division at Andersen Corporation.  He has responsibility for the Andersen business, which includes Residential and Commercial Pro and The Home Depot channels, in addition to enterprise operations, logistics, supply chain, research, development and innovation and information technology. Galvin serves on the Andersen Corporate Foundation board of directors and is a board member for First State Bank and Trust, the Minnesota Stroke Association and the Minnesota Brain Injury Alliance. He also has served on the Greater MSP Business Investment Leadership Council.

Alex West Steinman is co-founder and CEO of The Coven, a network of digital and physical co-working spaces designed for women, non-binary and trans people. She is dedicated to their economic empowerment and advancement through development opportunities within The Coven. West Steinman has been recognized for her inclusive work, locally and nationally, including by Forbes as a member of its “Next 1000” list and by AMEX and its “100 for 100” list. She is a recipient of the Mpls/St. Paul Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 award and was a 2019 Bush Fellow.

Tarek Tomes serves as the Commissioner of Minnesota IT Services and is the State of Minnesota’s Chief Information Officer. Recognized as an industry leader, Tomes brings over 25 years of experience in managing technology innovation across diverse industries in national, international and public and private sector operations. Throughout his career, Tomes has facilitated data-driven decision-making, implemented many critical enterprise projects and improved workforce diversity and inclusion.
