Northwest Minnesota Foundation Awards Grant to City of Badger

Tuesday, February 16, 2016

The Northwest Minnesota Foundation (NMF) awarded a $7,500 grant to the City of Badger to complete a comprehensive plan.  The plan will gather input from the community and assess issues facing the city.

Because of its proximity to major employers, Badger is experiencing significant growth pressures related to housing, recreation, and shopping. The city is also faced with an aging infrastructure and anticipates costly repair projects in the near future, such as water system problems and street upgrades.

“This planning grant will provide a road map for public and private investments in Badger,” said Nate Dorr, NMF program officer for grants.  The community is well prepared to embark on the project with the help of Northwest Community Action. The process will begin with data gathering and public meetings this spring.

The Northwest Minnesota Foundation is a public, charitable foundation serving 12 counties of Northwest Minnesota by investing resources, facilitating collaboration and promoting philanthropy.
