Overall in Q3, Northwest Area Foundation awarded 46 grants worth more than $5.7 million to support projects spanning their four funding portfolios. Funding to Native-led nonprofits was the highlight of the quarter, including grants to:
People’s Partner for Community Development (PPCD), which serves Montana’s Northern Cheyenne Reservation. PPCD will use a four-year $100,000 grant to support lending capital and ongoing financial services as a Native community development financial institution (CDFI). This grant—and two others in Q3—are part of our collaboration with Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines.
North Dakota Native Vote, which plans to use a one-year $75,000 grant to support outreach aimed at achieving an accurate count of Native citizens in North Dakota as part of the 2020 Census.
