New Catalyst Funding Available from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota

Wednesday, March 13, 2019

The Center for Prevention at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota is excited to announce a new funding opportunity to advance health equity.

The ‘Catalyst Funding Initiative’ will fund community-driven, culturally specific efforts that support commercial tobacco control, healthy eating, or physical activity, especially those impacting social determinants of health.

Blue Cross is seeking a variety of projects from across Minnesota that reflect different strategies to support community health. Organizations may propose ideas that address either physical activity, healthy eating, reducing commercial tobacco use or ideas that address more than one of these areas, based on the community need. Proposals may include (but are not limited to) activities to:

  • Raise awareness of barriers to health facing the community
  • Seek to influence organizational policy that impacts health
  • Engage and advocate for local and state public policy to advance community health
  • Focus on communications, dissemination or storytelling that will increase awareness of community health or change the narrative on health
  • Execute creative community demonstration projects

The application deadline is April 12th, 2019, 1:00 PM Central Time.

An informational webinar will be held on March 15th, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. Central time. This webinar will offer more details about the Catalyst Funding Initiative and provide an opportunity to ask questions. Applicants are strongly encouraged to participate. Additional information on the webinar can be found here. Password for the webinar is: BCBSMN
