Mortenson Family Foundation Welcomes Ambar Hanson as its Community Relationship Officer

Thursday, January 3, 2019

Mortenson Family Foundation is pleased to announce that Ambar Hanson will join the Foundation as a Community Relationship Officer for its Expanding Opportunities for Children and Families program area. Ambar brings extensive knowledge and direct experience to help the Foundation meet its goal of assisting children and families living in poverty to attain equitable access to academic and social development opportunities and systems.

Ambar joins the Foundation with 17 years of experience in the nonprofit sector. Most recently she served as chief external relations officer at Hiawatha Academies, a high-performing school network, during a time of significant growth. Prior to Hiawatha, she served as a family advocate and several leadership roles at the local and national level to support the work of ending violence against women and children, building relationships directly with families and other community partners to affect policy and systems change.

“I’m so excited to join the Mortenson Family Foundation as they work towards building stronger relationships with our communities to build on community strengths and support closing opportunity gaps for families that have been historically underserved” Ambar said.

“Because Ambar places community at the center of her work, building strong relationships and focusing on equity and quality, she will strengthen the work of the Foundation and its community partners,” said Donna Dalton, executive director.
