Minnesotans Support Public-Private Partnership for Afghan Resettlement

Minnesota has a long tradition of welcoming people seeking safety. Starting in late 2021, the state began making plans to potentially resettle over 1,000 Afghan people. A resettlement of this size and scope would be a historic effort in Minnesota. The Afghan resettlement required a public-private partnership with millions of dollars of investments from federal, state, in-kind, individual and philanthropic sources. Learn about the ways that Minnesota welcomed Afghan people to Minnesota, including the role for philanthropy to support immediate needs upon arrival by funding temporary hotel stays, community resource coordination and legal services.

To learn more about this historic effort, view the final project update, February 2022.
