MCF Urges MN House and Senate to Release Election Security Dollars

Wednesday, April 24, 2019

Minnesota's $6.6 million in federal funds to secure our election system are currently being tied up in the Minnesota legislature. MCF wrote a letter to leaders in both the House and Senate urging them to work together and approve the release of the full $6.6 million in federal Help America Vote Act (HAVA) funds this legislative session. We also expressed our view that these funds should not be tied to any other significant policy changes. Read the full letter below.

The Minnesota Council on Foundations supports policies that strengthen democratic institutions and promote civic engagement, including advocating for policies that promote voter access and confidence in our voting systems. We support investments to upgrade and modernize the state’s voter registration database and invest in security upgrades and permanent systems reforms to counter cyberattacks.
