MCF Issues RFP for Strategic Planning Consultant

Wednesday, July 7, 2021

Following significant organizational changes including staffing, upgrades to organizational infrastructure, changes in program delivery, and a commitment to become an anti-racist organization, the Minnesota Council on Foundations seeks a partner to engage with the MCF board and staff on a strategic planning process. The consultant will work with MCF between September 2021 and June 2022, updating MCF’s strategic direction to support the organization in providing focused, relevant, high quality member services and community impact.

While there is some flexibility in design of the project, MCF expects that consultant activities and deliverables will include:

  1. Board engagement, including an all-day retreat on October 28, periodic meetings from January to June 2022, and regular engagement with the chair and executive committee.
  2. Staff engagement, including a primary relationship with the MCF president.
  3. Understanding of organizational history and assets relevant to updated strategic direction.
  4. Design and collection of input from MCF members and community stakeholders, likely to include: board engagement at September retreat; direct member engagement at MCF’s annual meeting in December; a member survey; interviews with key stakeholders and community partners.
  5. Process design in partnership with MCF president and executive committee.
  6. Process guidance and facilitation.
  7. Delivery of a final report/product reflecting MCF’s updated strategic direction.
