The Alexandria Area Community Foundation (AACF), in conjunction with CommunityGiving, is pleased to announce the scholarship recipients of the Thomas J. Reif Memorial Scholarship Fund and the Tommy and Alla Solberg Endowment Fund for this 2020-2021 school year.

Summer Gerhardt of Alexandria was the recipient of $1,000 from the Thomas J. Reif Memorial Scholarship Fund. Shea Issendor of Alexandria was the recipient of $4,000 from the Tommy and Alla Solberg Endowment Fund.

CommunityGiving administers 135 separate scholarship funds, some of which serve the Alexandria area and the surrounding area schools. These scholarships were established by individuals, families and businesses to support area students in their educational pursuits.

“Scholarships are so important to help students attend college and achieve their dreams,” said Holly Witt, Executive Director of the AACF. “Scholarships not only provide financial support but also convey a message to the students from our donors that says ‘We support you. We want you to succeed.’”

The Alexandria Area Community Foundation (AACF) attracts and administers charitable funds for the benefit of the local Alexandria area. Since 1992, AACF has grown to over $4.8 million in assets and awarded over $3.9 million in grants to nonprofits.  The AACF is governed by a local board of directors and is a partner of CommunityGiving, which is a collaborative of many community foundations united under a single framework to create efficiencies that maximize the impact of our donors.  Collectively, CommunityGiving administers nearly 850 funds totaling more than $150 million.
