GTCUW hires Kim Stone as Senior VP of Advancement and Innovation

Greater Twin Cities United Way announces the hiring of Kim Stone in the newly created role of Senior Vice President of Advancement and Innovation. As a member of the nonprofit’s executive team, Ms. Stone leads the advancement function to increase philanthropic support from existing and new sources, including creating and implementing a comprehensive advancement strategy. 

United Way launched a nationwide search after long-time Advancement Senior Vice President Barb Beard announced her retirement. As Senior Vice President, Ms. Stone has oversight of the management and development in the areas of Major Gifts, Foundations and Planned Giving area, as well as governance responsibilities with the board of directors. 

Her proficiency in executive leadership and development were evident in her most recent role as Assistant Vice President of Advancement at Augsburg College. There she helped lead the college's $50 million capital campaign for the Hagfors Center for Science, Business, and Religion. An avid volunteer, Ms. Stone has also served as a member of the allocation committee of United Way of Broward County in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Ms. Stone shared her excitement about joining the 102-year-old nonprofit, “I'm thrilled to join this highly respected and established institution in the Twin Cities region. I look forward to leading the team of talented advancement professionals and also collaborating with staff, board, donors and partner agencies to address the challenges in our community.”

A St. Paul native and a Minnesota State University, Mankato graduate, Ms. Stone earned her Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication with an emphasis in Public Relations; and a Master of Business Administration in International Business from Nova Southeastern University. She lives in Mendota Heights with her family.
