Exciting Updates on MCF's Leadership Transition

Dear MCF Members,

We recently had the opportunity to celebrate former MCF President Susie Brown and her incredible contributions to our community. As we step into this time of transition, one of my key responsibilities as Board Chair is leading the effort—alongside the full board and search committee—to appoint MCF's next President. Here's how our work is unfolding:

Welcoming Our Interim President

I'm pleased to introduce Donna Dalton as MCF's Interim President. With decades of experience in foundation leadership, Donna will provide steady guidance during this transition, supporting both the board and staff as we search for a new president. Welcome Donna!

Partnering with 8 Bridges Workshop

To support our search, we've engaged Sarah Lutman and Enrique Olivarez from 8 Bridges Workshop, a Minnesota-based consulting and search firm. We were impressed by their deep expertise, human-centered approach, and strong equity lens. Their commitment to an inclusive, thoughtful, and flexible process stood out, and we are confident they will be a good partner in guiding a successful search process.

Now Accepting Applications

I'm excited to share that the MCF President position is now open! Do you know anyone who would be a great fit? We encourage you to share this opportunity with your networks to help us reach a strong and diverse pool of candidates. The application deadline is May 7.

Leadership transition often brings a sense of uncertainty, and this moment in time adds even greater complexity. Philanthropy is navigating rapid shifts—adapting to evolving community needs, addressing systemic changes, and responding to an ever-changing political and social landscape. Across the country, new leadership, policy changes, and economic pressures are shaping the way we work and collaborate. Yet, amidst these uncertainties, philanthropy remains a powerful force for impact. MCF is steadfast in its values, committed to guiding our members through this transitional time with stability, clarity, and a shared vision for the future. I look forward to keeping you updated as we move this work forward.

In community,

Flor Treviño Frey

MCF Board Chair
