Developing Your Hard Skills in 2016

Wednesday, February 17, 2016

We know that pile of reading on your desk. We have it on our desks too. Yes, there are plenty of great publications and blogs to learn from in the field. But we’re social beings, meaning oftentimes learning through conversation with others and then immediately putting it into action is the fastest route to retained knowledge.

This year, the staff at MCF is dedicated to finding ways to connect members with each other on an even larger scale. One way we are doing this is through our Essentials series. Through these four programs, we will highlight members and other experts around hard skills relevant to foundation staff across a variety of functions.

While providing some basics around the topic, these programs will go far beyond, providing ideas and tools that you can take back and apply immediately in your daily work.

The programs will begin with a member or expert panel and then allow breakouts by foundation type or topic to allow participants to dig into Q&A with panelists and other members.

We invite you to learn more about the panelists and to register today:

Philanthropic Finance – March 8

Advanced Proposal Review – April 19

Navigating Legal Issues – August 23

Convening Grantees & Partners – October 18

In addition to these in-person sessions, keep in mind you can always access previous webinars covering the basics of legal and nonprofit finance here

We will also continue to host valuable Lunch and Learn webinars in 2016 on topics related to the skills we have defined as essential for a 21st Century philanthropy leader. View upcoming webinars here.

As always, we love to hear from you about topics that fit into your professional development and learning goals. They will likely show up in our future skill-building programming!
