Counting on Minnesota’s New Americans

The number of Minnesotans born outside the country has tripled over the past 25 years, with immigrant and refugee communities now making up a critical component of the state’s economy.

MinnPost launched its New Americans beat this past week with a good summary of important information that would not have been available without the American Community Survey (ACS).

Advocating for a robust census, with full and timely funding is an MCF public policy priority. Unfortunately, rather than ramping up for the 2020 Census and sustaining the ACS Congressional appropriators are lagging and cutting.
