Caryl Turnow Named Executive Director of Central Minnesota Community Foundation

CommunityGiving and the Board of Directors of the Central Minnesota Community Foundation (CMCF) are pleased to announce the hiring of Caryl Turnow as the new Executive Director of the Foundation.
 
Turnow comes to the CMCF with nearly 20 years of non profit and foundation experience. For the past ten years she has worked as the Senior Development Officer for Community Funds and Planned Giving at the Northwest Minnesota Foundation based in Bemidji, Minnesota. She has worked with individuals and communities with community funds resulting in $4.5 million in annual gifts in each of the past four years.
 
 Prior to her work in development, Turnow worked as a business development specialist assisting entrepreneurs in Northwest Minnesota. She is both a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) as well as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).  She previously owned and operated an accounting practice in Roseau for nine years.
 
CMCF Board Chair John Herges said “We are extremely fortunate to have someone with Caryl’s experience joining the Foundation team.”    CommunityGiving President & CEO Steve Joul noted her knowledge and background will support the Foundation’s continued growth and provide expertise to support donors in giving back to the community.” Turnow will assume her duties at CMCF mid-June, working closely with the Board of Directors and overseeing all grant making and development activities for the Foundation. Since inception in 1985, CMCF has grown to over $78 million in assets and last year awarded over $5.2 million in grants to local non-profits.
 
Joul who served as President of the Central Minnesota Community Foundation for the past 20 years, has assumed the new role of President & CEO of CommunityGiving, a partnership of four core community foundations which include the Alexandria Area Community Foundation, the Brainerd Lakes Area Community Foundation, the Central Minnesota Community Foundation and the Willmar Area Community Foundation.  CommunityGiving is a public charity which attracts and administers charitable funds for the benefit of local communities.  CommunityGiving today administers more than 650 funds totaling more than $115 million.
