Bernick Family Foundation Seeks to Grant $150,000 to Programming for Youth & Education and Health & Fitness

The Bernick Family Foundation is now accepting applications for their annual grant round. The Bernick Family Foundation supports two key focus areas through their grant round; youth and education which includes activities to prepare students for future successes, and health and fitness which includes activities that address health and wellness. Grant application deadline is September 1, 2018.

Jason Bernick, Bernick’s Director of Corporate Affairs stated, "Every year we are amazed at all of the wonderful programs and activities happening in the communities that we serve and we are honored to be able to support another new round of projects this year."

The Bernick Family Foundation will accept applications for grants ranging from $3,000 to $50,000 in its focus areas and will award up to $150,000 in total grants this funding cycle. Applicants must be 501(c) (3) nonprofit organizations, schools or government entities serving communities where Bernick’s operates. This includes Barnum, Bemidji, Brainerd, Duluth, Waite Park, and Willmar, Minnesota and Dresser, Wisconsin, and the surrounding areas.

Last year, 8 projects were selected to receive grants and they included $30,000 to support renovation of a high-tech classroom at the Life House in Duluth, MN which primarily serves homeless and street youth, $25,000 to support the construction of the Discovery Center in Osceola, WI which will serve as library, community room and business center and $17,500 to assist students transitioning from high school to post secondary careers through the Alternative Learning Center in St. Cloud.

The Bernick Family Foundation established their first fund with the Central Minnesota Community Foundation in 1989. The Bernick's company and the Bernick family uses their funds to support organizations that reflect the family’s core values, while providing leadership in responding to emerging community needs.
