Bernick Family Foundation Awards $100,000

The Bernick Family Foundation announced today that it awarded more than  $100,000 in grants focused on enriching the lives of youth and improving health through its fund at the Central Minnesota Community Foundation  A grant was awarded to the City of New London for $18,000 for their Mill Pond Music Trail enhancements.
 
 The latest round of grants provides significant support to help youth gain the experiences, encouragement and education they need to grow to serve their communities well. Among the grants is a $25,000 grant to Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Minnesota to fund a new gymnasium for the Roosevelt Club in St. Cloud, Minnesota

“At Bernick’s, we see needs in the community and want to do our part to make a difference,” said Jason Bernick, director of corporate affairs. “The funding in this year’s grant round will help build a stronger future for our communities.” Bernick’s serves St. Cloud, Duluth, Alexandria, Willmar, Brainerd, Bemidji and surrounding communities as well as Dresser, Wisconsin. 

The latest round of grants supported the following community projects:

  •  $25,000 to Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Minnesota, St. Cloud for a new gymnasium for the Roosevelt Club
  • $15000 to Life House, Inc. in Duluth to assist homeless youth with services
  • $25,000 to Boys and Girls Clubs of Barron County, Dresser, Wisconsin for a Science and STEM series for youth
  • $18,000 to City of New London for their Mill Pond Music Trail enhancements
  • $12,000 to Boys and Girls Club of the Bemidji Area for a Triple Play program which teaches youth and their families to be healthy in food choices, exercise and live a healthy lifestyle.
  • $5,000 to Kinship Partners to expand youth mentoring in the Staples/Motley and Crosby area.  

The Bernick Family Foundation was established as a component of the Central Minnesota Community Foundation in 1989 to help Bernick’s and the Bernick Family support organizations that reflect the family’s core values, while providing leadership in responding to emerging community needs.

The Waite Park-based company has a long tradition of investing in its local communities to improve quality of life. In addition to their support through the Foundation, Bernick’s continues as a longtime philanthropic leader through direct financial and in-kind donations to over 100 causes each year.
