Application Now Open for 2017-2018 Bernick Family Foundation Grant Cycle

The Bernick Family Foundation is seeking applications from non-profit organizations for the 2018 funding cycle. Non-profits may apply in one of two categories; youth and education or health and fitness. LOI Applications will be accepted online through Sept. 1.

The Bernick Family Foundation will accept applications for grants ranging from $3,000 to $50,000 in its focus area and will award up to $150,000 in total grants this funding cycle. Applicants must be 501(c) (3) nonprofit organizations, schools or government entities serving communities where Bernick’s operates. This includes Barnum, Bemidji, Brainerd, Duluth, Waite Park, and Willmar, Minnesota and Dresser, Wisconsin, and the surrounding areas.

Last year, 11 projects were selected to receive grants and they included $25,000 to the school district of New Richmond, WI for the development of a school farm to learn agri-business and raise meat and vegetables for school use, $13,500 to the Yellow Boats Project at the Prairie Woods Environmental Learning Center in Spicer which will connect kids with water safety and $5,500 for disc golf equipment and curriculum at Lakeside Academy in Buffalo through Minnesota Adult and Teen Challenge.

The Bernick's company and the Bernick family uses their funds to support organizations that reflect the family’s core values, while providing leadership in responding to emerging community needs.

The Waite Park-based company has a long tradition of investing in its local communities to improve quality of life. In addition to their support through the Foundation, Bernick’s continues as a longtime philanthropic leader through direct financial and in-kind donations to over 100 causes each year.
