Allianz Life Awards $275,000 in Grants to Local Nonprofits Supporting Financial Literacy

Allianz Life Insurance Company of North America (Allianz Life®) announced today that is has awarded $275,000 in financial literacy grants, ranging from $10,000 to $25,000, to 14 nonprofit organizations in the Twin Cities. Since 2010, the Allianz Life financial literacy grant program has distributed more than $1.6 million. Grant recipients will use the funds to educate and train consumers on topics such as budget counseling, personal finance and debt management.

“Making smart financial decisions creates a more secure future. The work these organizations do to help people develop financial literacy is invaluable to building a better community,” said Allianz Life President and CEO Walter White. “We are committed to helping them succeed.”

Grants were awarded to nonprofits that teach financial literacy in a variety of ways to people of all ages. This includes programs that offer coaching for low-income students making college admission and success possible; financial education to homeless and low-income populations; and credit counseling services to help families establish and maintain financial stability.

Grants were awarded to the following nonprofits:
•        Boys and Girls Club of the Twin Cities – $20,000 to support their Money Matters program
•        CLIMB Theatre, Inc. – $20,000 to support their play, Emma and the Allianz Cash Cow
•        CLUES – $20,000 to support their Integrated Economic Vitality Services
•        College Possible – $25,000 to support their financial literacy program
·        EMERGE – $20,000 to support their financial coaching program
•        FamilyMeans – $25,000 to support their consumer credit counseling services
•        Lifetrack – $20,000 to support their financial literacy work within employment programs
•        Lutheran Social Services – $15,000 to support their senior fraud prevention education project
•        Minnesota Council on Economic Education – $20,000 to support their Community Mentorship for Financial Capability program
•        People Serving People – $20,000 to support its financial fitness program
•        Project for Pride in Living (PPL) – $20,000 to support their employment training and financial literacy education program
•        Prepare + Prosper – $20,000 to support their financial capability program
•        The Cookie Cart – $10,000 to support their financial education program
•        Twin Cities RISE! – $20,000 to support their financial education program
