Action Alert: Minnesota House Committee "Whiffs" on Census Funding; Then Comes Back Strong

Sunday, April 7, 2019

The first swing at an omnibus state government finance bill in the Minnesota House was a whiff when it comes to the census. Rather than funding the $2.5 million that's needed, the House bill initially proposed $1.6. But, after calls from census advocates, the committee increased its funding plan to $2M, enough to get the job done.  Thanks go to House State Government Finance Committee Chair, Rep. Mike Nelson, for making this happen, and to the census funding bill lead author Rep. Jamie Long for being such a fighter for census funding. Check out this Action Alert to learn more about what happened.
