Job Description

The Walser Foundation is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Foundation Sr. Specialist to support the day-to-day operations of philanthropic efforts on behalf of Walser Automotive Group.

At the Walser Foundation, we build strong communities through grants, scholarships, employee volunteer initiatives, and partnerships. This role embraces corporate philanthropy, leveraging strategic grantmaking to foster economic stability and drive meaningful impact while inspiring employee involvement and community engagement.

Walser Automotive Group commits 5% of all pre-tax earnings to the Walser Foundation, supporting nonprofits focused on education and workforce development in our business areas.

Primary Responsibilities

1. Grant Management:

  • Coordinate the grant application process, including identifying potential grantees, reviewing applications, and preparing recommendations for review.
  • Track grant allocations, ensuring compliance with funding guidelines and timelines.
  • Maintain accurate records of grants, reports, and communication with nonprofit partners.

2. Nonprofit Relationships:

  • Serve as the primary contact for nonprofit organizations, maintaining strong and positive relationships.
  • Conduct site visits to grantee organizations to evaluate progress and impact.
  • Foster partnerships that align with the Foundation’s mission and goals.

3. Volunteer Program Management:

  • Organize and oversee employee volunteer initiatives, ensuring alignment with Foundation priorities.
  • Recruit and coordinate employee volunteers for events and programs.
  • Track and report volunteer participation and hours.

4. Program Support and Administration:

  • Assist in planning and executing Foundation events, such as volunteer outings and nonprofit partner engagements.
  • Monitor and evaluate the success of Foundation programs and provide regular updates to internal stakeholders.
  • Work with the communications team to support Foundation-related content for social media, internal updates, and reports.

5. Reporting and Compliance:

  • Prepare summaries and reports for the Foundation board, highlighting program outcomes and financial updates.
  • Ensure compliance with nonprofit regulations and maintain organized documentation for audits and reports.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, public administration, social sciences, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 2-5 years of experience in nonprofit management, grant administration, or related fields.
    • Strong understanding of nonprofit organizations in the Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area and Wichita, Kansas, is preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Strong writing skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences, both internal and external. 
    • Exceptional organizational and project management abilities.
    • Strong interpersonal skills for building and maintaining partnerships.
    • A positive attitude is essential and an open mind is a must.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with grant management software is a plus.
