Location: Hybrid work environment. Office expectation is approximately 35%. As a community foundation with a statewide focus, community context is an integral aspect of creating effective marketing and narrative shifting strategies to achieve the Foundation’s mission. As such, the incumbent to this position should reside within the state of Minnesota.

Summary
The Advancement Manager supports the Foundation’s state-wide impact by project managing fundraising activities for both a $50mill Comprehensive Campaign, and for the Advancement Team’s typical scope of work. This is an equally externally– and internally–facing role that touches a wide scope of fundraising strategies through moves management support and is a key contributor to the team’s overall success and outcomes for individual and institutional fundraising revenue. The Advancement Manager works closely with all departments, the Executive Team, the President and CEO, and a robust team of volunteer committee members to fulfill annual fundraising goals.
Essential Functions: Role Specific
Advancement Team Coordination & Project Management (20%)
- Coordinate Advancement Team meetings, coordinate agendas, organize minutes and manage team movement/follow-up.
- Provide administrative support for advancement-related events.
- Analyze, adapt and implement systems and processes to create efficiencies within advancement functions, and connect all activities to the strategic plan and the annual operating plan.
- Support Vice President of Advancement in scheduling key meetings.
Manage & Implement Foundation-Related Stewardship & Fundraising Moves Management Activities (50%)
- Partner with Vice President of Advancement, President and CEO, and Campaign Committee on donor cultivation management including relationship building and correspondence including but not limited to drafting emails, solicitation letters, and other fundraising related communications.
- Support the Vice President of Advancement & President and CEO’s donor portfolio and moves management including attending prep sessions, creating talking points, and leading in making sure that meetings are getting scheduled as necessary.
- Coordinate and prepare fundraising campaign materials as requested such as email language for volunteers or WFM staff, drafting proposal language, submitting proposals and tracking deadlines.
- Lead project management for institutional funding including all grant LOI’s, reports & proposals to support the Director of Institutional Partnerships.
- Support Senior Partnership & Events Officer with moves management for event sponsorships.
Comprehensive Campaign Committee Administration (25%)
- Assist the Vice President of Advancement with Comprehensive Campaign Committee and subcommittee meeting agendas, presentations and reports, organize meetings and record minutes.
- Collaborate with database teammates to provide regular updates and fundraising effort summaries to the Vice President of Advancement, Executive Team and Campaign Committee.
- Work with Vice President of Advancement to prepare materials for staff and volunteer leadership for all assigned fundraising meetings, both internal and external.
- Lead project management of volunteer solicitation and referral program, activating volunteers for a successful comprehensive campaign.
- Secure lists and reports to be used with volunteers related to fundraising efforts in partnership with the Senior Systems & Database Manager and Vice President of Advancement.
- Lead project management for cultivation events that committee members will host.
Project Lead for the Foundation’s Membership in Federated Campaigns, GiveMN and Other Employee Giving Programs (5%)
- Complete applications each year for inclusion in State of Minnesota Combined Charities campaign.
- Procure and order give-away “swag” items for Combined Charities and other Foundation events.
- Represent Foundation at State of MN Combined Charities campaign events, typically held August-October.
- Work with the Communications Team to update Foundation’s content on relevant third-party giving sites. (Examples: State of MN Combined Charities, Guide Star, and Give MN web pages.)
- Lead coordination of additional employee giving programs as needed.
Essential Functions: Organizational
- Participate as an active member of the Foundation staff by working collaboratively with other staff members; and by communicating openly and honestly with staff and volunteers.
- Attend Women’s Foundation of Minnesota events, as well as external community events, as required and/or as requested by the Vice President of Advancement.
- Perform all other projects and tasks as assigned by the Vice President of Advancement.
- Actively participate in WFM’s learning culture in diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility.
Job Specifications
Desired Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education and experience working in a fundraising environment.
- Four or more years of administrative and project management work experience within a nonprofit or philanthropic organization.
- Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge databases or similar and Microsoft Office Applications, such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Event management, or similar, experience.
- Comprehensive or capital campaign management experience helpful, but not required.

Physical Requirements Necessary to Perform This Job
- Hear and speak in order to use telephone and communicate with people both in and out of the office environment.
- Visual ability to review information on the computer as well as in hard copy form.
- Sit at desk for extended periods and perform long hours of work sitting at a computer.
- Apply manual dexterity for computer keyboarding and office equipment use.
- Physical ability to move around office area repeatedly throughout the day.
- Flexible work hours requiring work in excess of 40 hours/week when necessary.
- Represent WFM at external facing events on occasional evenings and weekends.
Tools and Equipment Used
- Incumbent must be able to use multi-line telephone, calculator, copy machines, facsimile machines, computers, postage machine, and other office equipment.
- Able to become proficient in MS Office Suite of software as well as fundraising, publishing and research applications.
- Various video and audio platforms to facilitate virtual work, meeting, and event environments.
