Minnesotans of Asian descent make up for nearly five percent of the state’s total population. Between 2010 and 2018, Minnesota’s Asian American community have been recorded as the second fastest growing racial population statewide. A vibrant and culturally rich community of diverse backgrounds, languages, religions and lived experiences, these Minnesotan’s are valuable contributors to shaping society.

The COVID Pandemic and the rise of anti-Asian hate did not miss Minnesota’s Asian American community. Many continue to face ongoing racial discrimination and intensifying hate crimes. While Minnesota’s Asian American communities are resilient and connected, the level of fear and real harm being perpetuated again Minnesotans of Asian descent is still largely invisible to the general public.

Join Anita Patel of Bush Foundation, Kara Inae Carlisle of McKnight Foundation, and ThaoMee Xiong of the Coalition of Asian American Leaders, to learn about the state of Minnesota’s Asian American community and where support is needed.
