The number of Minnesotans living without shelter -- but inside of cars, tents, or similar places has grown. This rapid growth – and in particular the visibility of Minnesota’s largest-ever encampments last summer and fall – has increased public awareness on this issue.

Recently, a group of community experts in the Twin Cities (e.g. outreach workers, housing and service providers, people experiencing homelessness) worked together as a design team to identify ways to tackle the problem of people sleeping outside or without comfortable shelter.

A group of MCF members are hosting a briefing to share the design team’s findings, report on efforts being undertaken by state and local government (particularly focused in the Twin Cities metropolitan area), and strategies that grantmakers are using to help respond to the immediate and more systemic challenges. Lt. Governor Peggy Flanagan will participate in the briefing.

The Heading Home Funders Collaborative, including Greater Twin Cities United Way, Pohlad Family Foundation, The Minneapolis Foundation, and The Saint Paul and Minnesota Foundations, is co-hosting this event along with the state’s Office to Prevent and End Homelessness.

This event is being coordinated through the Heading Home Funders Collaborative. REGISTER HERE(You cannot register for this event through MCF’s website.)
