Public Policy Issue Briefing: Nonpartisan Redistricting

Thursday, February 6, 2020 1:00pm - 2:00pm CST
MCF, 800 Washington Ave. N. Suite 703, Minneapolis MN 55401

Census Day is April 1, 2020. MCF and its members have been playing a leadership role in ensuring Minnesota is prepared for the 2020 Census and achieves a fully inclusive, honest, and accurate count. So, what happens after that? Join MCF’s public policy committee and the Democracy Funders Working Group for a briefing to learn about redistricting and the nonpartisan redistricting reforms that are being pursued this legislative session.

Annastacia Belladonna-Carrera, Executive Director of Common Cause MN, will brief MCF members on redistricting basics as well as the work a coalition of nonpartisan redistricting reform advocates are pursuing at the legislature in 2020. Maggie Osborn, Senior Vice President & Chief Strategy Officer for United Philanthropy Forum will bring the funder perspective to the briefing - why should funders care about redistricting, and how can they get involved?

MCF members will have the chance to ask questions and to discuss how MCF and its members can build on the work we’ve done around the 2020 Census to support nonpartisan redistricting from a policy and grantmaking perspective.  MCF is committed to working toward transparent redistricting principles and procedures that are equitable, fair, and nonpartisan.

This briefing is open to any MCF member. You are invited to join remotely via GoToMeeting or in-person at MCF’s office.
