Description: The reality of the new Congress will become more apparent in 2018 where we expect to see dramatic budget cuts. It is expected that cuts will be deep, beyond trimming bureacratic excess. As budget discussions continue, advocates will be working hard to defend and protect existing safety net programs. All of us will also be challenged to think differently about our economic safety net and how to meet the everyone's needs. These difficult budget conversations provide us with an opportunity to explore new and alternative pathways for achieving economic security, such as the idea of universal basic income.

We're excited to welcome Natalie Foster, co-chair of The Economic Security Project, to join us for a briefing on universal basic income and the pathway to achieving economic security for all.

MCF's Government Relations and Public Policy Committee is hosting this Issue Briefing as part of its meeting on Friday, November 17. MCF members are invited to participate in the briefing. It's your chance to learn about this topic and weigh in on MCF's public policy agenda decisions.

The committee meeting starts at 1 pm.  The Issue Briefing presentation will start shortly after 1pm. You can attend the briefing at MCF's office or by video conference (Go to Meeting - video access @
