What can funders learn from the current experiences of Minnesota’s immigrant and refugee communities? How are Minnesota funders currently showing up to support these communities? What can Minnesota funders learn from philanthropic efforts nationally in supporting immigrant and refugee communities?

The Minnesota Council on Foundations is partnering with Grantmakers Concerned with Immigrants and Refugees on a learning opportunity around strategies and action taken by philanthropy nationally to support immigrant and refugee communites. Funders will hear from leaders on the ground in Minnesota to understand how funders can best show up and learn from peer funders addressing the needs of immigrant and refugee communities in Minnesota.

As a result of this session, participants will:

  • Hear from local experts about conditions on the ground and the impacts of recent federal policies
  • Understand strategies being employed by funders nationally in supporting immigrants and refugees
  • Learn from peer Minnesota funders about how they are building relationships and doing grantmaking differently in light of the political and social climate

This is a funder-only conversation, creating the space for funders to understand and explore opportunities for their foundations to act to support immigrant and refugee issues. It is open to both MCF members and non-member grantmakers.
