Governor Walz recommended funding for the census in his 2020 budget. He proposed $1.6 million. The Minnesota Census Mobilization Partnership has bills going through the legislature seeking that and more; a full $2.5 million to support the state's push for a full count in 2020. Come with your questions about the state funding proposals and ready to walk away with your personal plan for reaching out to the Governor and legislators to get the job done.

There's a lot going on at the national level, too.  Congress just (finally) passed the 2019 budget for the census.  Now we have to get to work on the 2020 budget which is the BIG ask; the dollars to get us over the finish line. Also, the citizenship question moved to the Supreme Court.  Find out what we might expect between now and June when the Court will make its call about whether or not the Trump Administration can move forward with adding the question to the 2020 census form.

We also want you to come ready to generate some ideas.  We need to hear your thoughts about how Minnesota might approach providing a "legal backstop" for those who face the risk of being mistreated through this census.  Plus, there's lots to talk about as both the MN Census Mobilization Partnership and the State Demographer's Office gear up to organizing and mobilize all types of communities in Minnesota to be part of the 2020 count.

See you March 1st!

The Minnesota Census Mobilization Partnership is a network of individuals and groups working together to ensure that Minnesota has a fully-inclusive, nonpartisan, and accurate census in 2020.  We secure and organize resources to ensure full participation by historically undercounted communities, manage special projects to help community and public partners take advantage unique opportunities to make the census work better in Minnesota, and advocate at the federal and state levels for funding and policies to ensure a successful 2020 census.

Connect with the Partnership through Facebook and Twitter to get current news about the census in Minnesota.  Also, check for updates in Policy in Focus.
