AGENDA POSTED BELOW.

The work of independent community foundations is distinct, but also connected to other community foundations.  How do we continue to meet the needs of independent community foundations while also supporting the interconnectedness of all community foundations?  That’s a key discussion question for this gathering of the Minnesota Independent Community Foundations network.  We'll also talk about the current debate about the role of Donor advised funds (see articles in The Chronicle of Philanthropy and  The Atlantic).

You can also plan on the always-animated check-in on topics about day-to-day  identified by the group. Other agenda topics include finalizing plans for training and services for community foundation board members and senior staff, and a discussion to identify policy issues of interest to community foundations as a cue-up the agenda for the group’s September meeting.

This program is open to members of the Midwest Independent Community Foundations. The networks promotes  the members’ collective productivity and community impact through leadership and peer learning, to identify practices or projects that can be replicated or shared, and to enhance awareness and establish the brand of independent community foundations.  The group includes staff from community foundations that have assets of less than $250 million, maintain an independent operating structure and are not affiliated with another entity, support the Council on Foundations National Standards for Community Foundations, believe in mutual respect and collaboration, and are not competitive in the geographic territory of other members of the group. Visit us on The Hub to join the network.

Video conference participation is available for this event.  Information about connecting through video conference will be included in your registration confirmation email.  If you plan to attend via video conference, after registration, please email Brianna Kocka. Lunch will be served at this event. Attendees will be asked to contribute $10 to share the expense for lunch.

We understand some of you attending this meeting will also be attending the Rural Funders Issues Working Group the next day on June 7. The next meeting of the MICFN is on September 18, 2018.

The meeting agenda is attached.  For information, contact Bob Tracy, MCF's director of public policy (612.335.3558).
