Description: The purpose of the Midwest Independent Community Foundations Network is to enhance the productivity and community impact of all member foundations through collaboration. This meeting is the network's regular fall meeting.

The agenda includes sharing takeaways from the national confernece in Wichita, discussing personnel manuals and policies of interest, getting an MCF public policy update, discussing the administration of DAFs, and exploring processes network members are using for evaluating, awarding, and measuring the impact of competitive grants.

Two guest speakers will be joining us for this meeting, Melinda Sanders and Brad Hanson from Quinlivan & Hughes. From 11-12pm, they will present on community foundation legal basics with plenty of time for Q&A. Bring your legal questions!

  • Brad Hanson has become a sought out advisor for individuals, charitable organizations and colleagues, earning him the Professional Advisor in Philanthropy Award from the Central Minnesota Community Foundation in 2004. Brad has been practicing in estate planning, probate, trust administration, and charitable giving for over 30 years. He works with his clients to turn their wishes into plans that leave a legacy. Brad also is an active volunteer with many organizations, including Leave a Legacy, Boy Scouts, CentraCare Health, Rotary, and Wills for Heroes.
  • Melinda Sanders practices in the area of estate planning and charitable giving. Melinda worked at Quinlivan & Hughes for 19 years before spending 2 years as the Central Minnesota Community Foundation’s Director of Donor Relations. Ultimately the law called her back, and Melinda has continued her practice at Quinlivan & Hughes since 2015. Melinda’s unique perspective as Director of Donor Relations, and as an attorney, drive her passion for working with donors and charitable institutions to support and cultivate philanthropy. Melinda has a long history of serving on various non-profit boards, including, currently, United Way of Central Minnesota and St. Cloud Hospital.  She is also chairing Anna Marie’s Alliance’s capital campaign.

This is an MCF member-only meeting.
