Description: Join the Minnesota Food Funders Network for an issue briefing on the Good Food Access Program. The Good Food Access Program was established in state law to improve access to affordable, healthy foods for those who currently lack access, in rural, urban and suburban settings through loans, grants and technical assistance. At the event, you’ll learn the context and research behind what drove the creation of the Good Food Access Program and what the Program intends to do in its first year of operation. The briefing will include an update on the ongoing legislative and grassroots campaign to secure a state appropriation of $10 million annually for the Program and information about how you can join the Good Food Access Campaign.

Programs like the Good Food Access Program in other states have often relied on public and private dollars to achieve lasting impact and reach their full potential. Learn about the Minnesota Food Funders Network’s support for the Program and how your organization can contribute and participate as well. We all have a role to play in promoting healthy food access and facilitating sustainable local entrepreneurship in the food system.

This event will include plenty of time for socializing and talking with your peer funders about how to maximize and leverage the potential of the Good Food Access Program in your organization. Lunch will be provided.

Speakers:

  • Pam Bishop, Southern MN Initiative Foundation & Co-Chair of the Minnesota Food Funders Network
  • Paul Hugunin, Minnesota Department of Agriculture
  • Rachel Callanan, American Heart Association
  • Lance Knuckles, Community Reinvestment Fund & Incoming Co-Chair of the Minnesota Food Funders Network
