This summer, Congress considers whether to create a pathway to citizenship for some portion of the country’s 12 million undocumented, 100,000 of whom are Minnesotans. Whenever the pathway becomes law, there will be quick deadlines for eligible immigrants to obtain legal counsel, gather documentation, and submit applications. Our community must prepare now to be ready to assist our immigrant neighbors to take advantage of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. We must also ensure that, while our immigrant communities are in limbo, we provide the support they need until a pathway to citizenship becomes a reality. During this session, we will discuss:

  • The impact of a pathway to citizenship on eligible individuals and our communities
  • The anticipated need for services—particularly legal services
  • The resources currently available and the investments needed to respond to this opportunity

Our presenters include:

  • Veena Iyer, Executive Director, Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota
  • Additional presenters are being confirmed
