Minnesota has a long tradition of welcoming people seeking safety. Over the coming months, the state could resettle over 1,000 Afghan people. Join this MCF member briefing to learn about the resettlement process and to hear how philanthropy can join this historic effort. The Afghan resettlement will require a public-private partnership with millions of dollars of investments from federal, state, in-kind, individual and philanthropic sources.
During this session, we’ll learn about the ways that Minnesota is preparing to welcome Afghan people to Minnesota, including the possibility for philanthropy to support immediate needs upon arrival including temporary hotel stays, community resource coordination and legal services.
Presenters include:
- Rachele King, State Refugee Coordinator, Minnesota Department of Human Services
