MCF All-Member Call: Investing in Rural Vitality

Monday, June 15, 2020 1:00pm - 2:00pm CDT

On June 15 our MCF All-Member Call focuses on the issue of investing in rural vitality. The coronavirus pandemic and economic crisis are impacting rural and urban communities in different ways and exacerbating aspects of the rural-urban divide. While the pandemic has sparked hot spots in various rural areas, many Greater Minnesota communities won’t expect the virus to peak until mid-late summer. With Greater Minnesota’s aging populations, there is a heightened awareness of impacts to senior care, long-term care and overall healthcare providers. At the same time, rural communities are rallying to maintain small businesses and entrepreneurs, support the workforce, and enhance services from nonprofits and faith-based institutions.

Join this conversation to hear from a panel of philanthropic and community leaders as they discuss impacts of the crisis and offer ideas for moving toward long term rural vitality. Panel members will include Julie Tesch, President & CEO of the Center for Rural Policy & Development, Sonja Merrild, Director of Grants of the Blandin Foundation, and Tim Penny, President & CEO of the Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation. Diana Anderson, President & CEO of the Southwest Initiative Foundation will be faciliating this panel.

MCF hosts regular members-only calls for the purpose of sharing best practices, understanding community needs, and considering ways we can work together in this unprecedented time. Bring your questions and ideas to share. This is an MCF-members only event. Call-in details will be in your confirmation email.
