MCF All-Member Call: COVID-19 Planning, Response, and Recovery

Monday, April 6, 2020 1:00pm - 2:00pm CDT

Join your MCF member peers to address the evolving community needs emerging due to coronavirus. MCF is hosting these calls for the purpose of sharing updates and best practices, understanding community needs, and considering ways we can work together in this unprecedented time. Specific topics for these calls will be determined as this situation develops, and community needs are understood, with guidance from the Disaster Philanthropy Working Group, and the Center for Disaster Philanthropy.

On Monday, April 6, our MCF All-Member Call topic will focus on Minnesota's Homeless Response System.

We are in unprecedented times. As the number of people affected by the COVID-19 virus in Minnesota continues to grow, many of us are grappling with sudden changes to our everyday lives. Now, imagine being homeless – having no place to shelter in place – no access to healthcare or support system. Minnesota’s homeless response system is being disproportionately burdened, and providers are responding quickly to increased demand, unanticipated expenses and staffing challenges.  In order for philanthropy to support the homeless community effectively during the COVID-19 outbreak, it is important to first understand the way the government response is organized, and how philanthropy can support and augment local, state and federal leadership on this issue. Join us to hear from our local homeless response leaders from state and county government and frontline providers.

Speakers for this call include:

  • Chuck Peterson, Executive Director of the Heading Home Minnesota Funders Collaborative
  • Cathy ten Broeke, Assistant Commissioner & Executive Director of the Minnesota Interagency Council on Homelessness
  • Tim Marx, President & CEO of the Catholic Charities of St. Paul and Minneapolis
  • David Hewitt, Director of Hennepin County Office to End Homelessness

GoToMeeting information will be in your confirmation email.

These calls will be recorded and posted on the MCF website.
