This peer network provides space for staff roles responsible for learning and evaluation to connect with one another, share about the work they are doing, and talk with their peers about questions and challenges.

In November, we will spend our time discussing intentional information gathering. We will walk through a tool developed by Greater Twin Cities United Way's (GTCUW) Community Impact team to support them in reflecting on the assumptions underlying their externally facing data collection efforts. The framework leverages field-recognized best practices related to grants management, knowledge management, measurement, learning and evaluation, and data equity. The tool walks users through questions they should ask themselves and their colleagues at each phase of a data collection effort (be it a site visit, grant report, or grant application). The ultimate goal is that each data collection effort is:

  • designed for use
  • grounded in equity
  • reflective of org-wide and team-wide collaboration
  • learning-focused
  • simple and streamlined wherever possible
  • created to promote an exceptional user experience

During the session, Caryn Thor Lesser, Senior Operations Manager, GTCUW, will describe the development and use of the tool.

This is an MCF members-only briefing. Log-in details will be provided in your confirmation email. If you have questions about this meeting, please contact Chris Oien, coien@mcf.org.
